Ken has been battling end stage renal disease for several years. Last year he started dialysis treatments to stay alive. He is able to do peritoneal dialysis at Rhode Island hospital three times a week for three and a half hours at each session. Last year, his doctors at Rhode Island Hospital told us that he does need a life-saving kidney transplant and was placed on the transplant waiting list.
Ken has health insurance, which is a blessing, but this will not cover all the costs for the transplant. Even with insurance there are many expenses that must be paid out of pocket. Some of these are co-pays, deductibles and Ken will be on a life-time of anti-rejection medications. This is where your help is desperately needed.
To help reduce the financial burden, a fundraising campaign in Ken’s honor has been established with HelpHOPELive, a nonprofit organization that has been assisting the transplant community for 30 years. All donations are tax-deductible, are held by HelpHOPELive in the Northeast Kidney Transplant Fund, and are administered by HelpHOPELive for transplant-related expenses only.
